ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK

rebecca minkoff mini 5zip, jean jacket, orange bag outfit, blue loafers, blogger street style, new york fashion blogger, ootd, steve madden shoes, what to wear with jean jacket, how to wear gray jeans, jeans and loafers
I have been looking for an exciting yet not so bright colored purse for awhile. When I saw this Rebeca Minkoff "Mini 5-Zip" at the New York Century 21, I immediately fell in love! Century 21 has been my new favorite place to shop since I moved to New York last winter. I can easily find great designer pieces at a lower price. For this outfit, my orange bag helped to brighten up the dark colors of my outfit. I wore this for a weekend tour in Willamsburg. The jean jacket gives the whole look a urban, street feel.

Well, well, it is time to finally sit down and share all my wedding adventures with you guys. Let's start with my bridal shower! I didn't grow up in the U.S.A. and the concept of a bridal shower was totally new to me. I had no idea what a bridal shower was until I had one. My lovely mother-in-law and sisters-in-law hosted this whole beautiful event. When I walked into the venue at Longfellows hotel, I was completely shocked by everything they did for me. I couldn't stop saying "wow" when I saw all the details that filled the room with love. I spent a great time with all the wonderful guests, and I will never forget the day for the rest of my life.

I have been so overwhelmed with everything but also spending a long wonderful time with the people who love me the most in the world. Everything has finally settled down right now, I have a chance to update my website and keep working on my second career as a blogger. I have so much great news, experiences, photos, and places I discovered in NYC that I wanted to share with you and I can't wait to share with you in the near future!

WANTED DESIGN 2014

wanted design, design week 2014, furniture design
Hey guys! I'm so sorry that I haven't posted recently, I have been overwhelmed with my new job and the wedding plans. There are so many great things that have happened in NYC since summer began! NYC Design Week started in the middle of May and it has always been my favorite event of the year as a practicing designer. I saw a lot of old friends and professors from school, as well as seeing so many great designs from professionals that come from all around the world. Wanted Design is one of my favorite design shows during the week. There are a lot of independent designers, companies, and schools displaying new work in a unique and cool location. Here are some of my favorites:

BOUQUETS I LOVE

wedding inspirations, wedding bouquets, bridal bouquet, flower for the wedding
When it comes to making a decision for my wedding, I usually struggle for a while before I decide which way to go. It happened when I was looking for the venue and the dress. This week, I've been looking for a florist as well as trying to narrow down the style of flowers I like. There are so many beautiful designs out there and I just love all the beautiful flowers. It is really hard for me to pick one! However, I took some time to look through my Pinterest and picked out some of my favorites for inspirations. I love the simple and free style with some interesting details, and I want to keep all the colors really light but not all white, such as light pink, peach, and yellow. I can't wait to meet with my florist and start design my own bouquet!

HOME SWEET HOME

Happy Friday everyone! Sorry for the lack of post recently, my computer crashed in the beginning of April and I did a lot of work to bring it back to life. Meanwhile I just moved to NYC and I am looking for a full-time job in the design field. Park Slope is such a beautiful place to live, my fiancé and I are so happy that we made the decision to move here. Our apartment is also very sweet and it officially became our new HOME! We were running around the city looking for furniture and housewares during the past few weeks. We still have a lot of things to do to fill up our apartment, and today I will share some details of my new home that I really love.

CARDIGAN COAT

Sammy Dress Cardigan, H&M jeans / boots, Bianco sunglasses, Aldo earrings

Recently I was introduced a global online fashion retail company called Sammy Dress. They provide on-trend fashions at a very affordable price. I fell into this cardigan when I was looking through their huge fashion collection. The thickness makes it both a cardigan and a coat, the perfect choice for an early spring day when the temperature is till cool in the mornings and afternoon. This was the last outfit I shot in Saratoga and I officially moved into Brooklyn this past weekend (Yeah!) I can't wait to start my new adventure in exciting New York City!

HOME OFFICE IDEAS

I've been seeking a layout inspiration for our NYC apartment rental for the past month. My fiancé and I want to make the living room into a studio working space because we are both designers and do a lot of work from home. An inspired and comfortable work space will be really helpful to create a great working atmosphere. The work space in the picture above uses three desks to create a long office table which is a great idea if you do not want to spend a lot of money for a long custom work table. Here are some other inspirations:

Even through it was officially spring beginning yesterday, the winter in upstate New York is still hanging around. My friends sent me some pictures of the flowers blooming in Beijing, they make me miss the city so much. Lately my schedule has been crazy and so full. I am getting ready for moving to New York City and finding a perfect place to have my upcoming wedding. It is really difficult to decide because the venue is the most important step towards the entire wedding. After I met with about seven wedding managers from different locations I'm going to make a final decision in the next couple of days. This outfit was shot before a wedding meeting in Saratoga Springs. I love this romantic town so much and we were engaged in an Italian restaurant here too!

FAVORITE OSCAR DRESSES

IMAGE VIA: 1, 2, 3

When it comes to Oscar night, one of my (and every girl's) favorite things to do is watch the red carpet for new fashions. The picture above shows three of my favorite dresses from last night. I especially liked Amy Adams's navy dress which caught my eye immediately. I fell for the simple and modern tailored look and the gorgeous material that makes the dress appear flawless. One of the fun moments from last night was when Ellen set the record for 1 million retweets in 45 minutes, and it is still going up (it's at about 3 million right now). Isn't it amazing? The power of the internet is just unbelievable. What are your favorite dresses and best moments from this year's Oscars?

BLACK RIPPED JEANS

denim jacket, gray sweater, black ripped jeans, rebecca minkoff black mini tote, converse black sneakers, tom ford gray sunglasses, fashion blogger, street style, new york blogger, winter style, winter outfit

If you ask me what items I hate to shop for, I will always say pants. It is so hard to find a good pair that is stylish, comfortable, and makes you look slim. I had previously been looking for a black pair of ripped jeans until I found this pair in H&M. It has all the features that I was looking for and is now one of my favorites in my wardrobe. It can almost go with anything and for this outfit I paired it with a cozy gray sweater and Converse sneakers. Instead of black outerwear like I usually do (here and here), I threw on a denim jacket to add a bit of color to the entire look.

CANVAS JUNE DESIGN SHOP UPDATE

Lately I've been working on new designs for passport covers that will be sold on my Etsy shop. I really enjoy making small accessories using felt, canvas, and patterned cotton fabric that I love. I still have so many ideas that I haven't had a chance to create yet, but I'm glad I can share some of what I've done so far. I also started a new Instagram account @canvasjunecollection for my shop. I think it is a great way to stay connected with the world and archive my photos for all my design collections.

THE LOVE OF COPPER

copper color, copper products, copper housewares, copper candle holder, copper fruit bool, copper jewelry, product design with copper, finished in copper, fashion blog, lifestyle blog, home decoration, home wish list

I can't remember when or where I first started to become obsessed with products finished in a copper color. I love how this color brings a little fancy or vintage quality to the product, especially housewares. After plenty of time preparing online research, I found some of my favorite products that are finished in copper that are now on the market. Other than the products that I found, the first thing that pops into my mind when I think about copper are mugs and vases. I think that I could totally DIY them by myself when I get a chance to play with some copper paint! Which ones are your favorites?

NYC TRIP DIARY

nyc, travel, trip, nails, red nail, plaid scarf, fashion blogger
Hey everyone, I'm back from NYC! Did you guys have a great Valentine's day? We had a driving date to Long Island on the 14th to celebrate our third Valentine's day in our favorite Japanese restaurant "Robata". It had been snowing really hard before we started our trip, but it was so beautiful because all the trees and mountains were covered by snow. Compared to the other trips I've taken to NYC, I spent more time discovering Brooklyn, especially Park Slope and Williamsburg. I always hear how cool Brooklyn is, but I finally had a change to visit in person. I found some great places that I would like to share today, and I definitely will come back to discover more cool places in the future!

NEW BLACK COAT

hm black coat, black coat outfit, hm boots, black and red outfit, fashion blogger coat, shopping list, oversized coat, sheep fur collar, gold zipper, red plaid shirt, ankle black boots

H&M coat / plaid shirt / boots, Mango sunglasses,  American Eagle jeans, Forever 21 Necklace

This outfit was my first time wearing a new black coat from my Spring Festival shopping list. The best thing about black outerwear is that it can almost go with anything in your wardrobe, but it isn't always so easy to find one that is both chic and classic. I always look at the tailoring and details first when it come to choosing a coat. This coat is very simple and masculine with an oversized casual appearance. The golden zipper and the sheep fur collar bring the coat some feminine elements, totally something I was looking for. It has been my go-to piece for a week, and I'm so in love with it!

DIY HAND WARMERS

Remember my previous post titled, DIY Beanie? Here is another DIY that is made from an old sweater. I have been in the mood to up-cycle materials and discover different possibilities for old sweaters. It's been so much fun to make something new from something old and have a chance to use them right away. Hand warmers are especially great when you need all your fingers available on a cold day and don't want to trap your hands in mittens. I'm actually wearing them while typing right now! Hope everyone has a great start to your week!

For the people who are working in the fashion field, fashion weeks are always the craziest weeks in the year. There are so many new designs that are being shown off from the most talented designers. I started watching the live streaming fashion week from BCBG Max Azria. It is so amazing that I can watch the show while it's happening.

CHINESE NEW YEAR OUTFIT

January and February have always been my favorite months to shop. Not only are there great sales for winter clothing, but there are also great deals on other merchandise too. Usually, I seek basic and classic pieces for the rest of winter and the upcoming spring. Last week, I visited +H&M for my Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) outfit.
